Celebrations in Room 4

It has been a while since we posted last, so here goes and apologies for the delay.
Here is a video we found about Diwali, a festival of lights from India.

The ant and the grasshoppers

Recently, ant announced winter was coming on the wet landscape. "We need to collect corn!" yelled ant. While he was exploring his tunnels underground, the grasshoppers were still dancing and prancing all over the cold ground. "O-oh, winter's here!" wailed the grasshoppers. " Yum, pancakes for lunch!" said ant. "Um, maybe we should go and find some corn." the grasshoppers said.
But... it was all gone!

The strange blue egg

Once upon a prehistoric time, there were some cavemen who found a strange blue egg with white dots. Then from inside there was a tap, tap, tap and then a... Plesiosaur popped out. "What is a plesiosaur doing out of the water?" "Something must have kicked it out! Lets put it back in." So they did.

Yesterday I went to Hamish's with my mom. I got Jaffa and my mom got Goody Goody Gumdrops. It was fun.

The rocket

Crish! A rocket got sucked up! Arrrrrrr! I'm stuck here for ever and ever. I'm close to Jupiter and the sun. Black Holes are dangerous things in space. They have lines in them if you are near them. They suck you up to another planet that no-one has been to. Don't get excited, you will never come back!
It is cool to go into space.

All About Dogs

Dogs can not see like humans. But they can smell better than we can. We call it sensing. Dogs are very clever in different ways. Dogs have 4 legs. My dogs are called Zoe and Mitch. Dogs can be different types of dogs, like one of my dogs is a colly cross labrador cross staffy bull terrier. Dogs can be different sorts of colours. Dogs need exercise every day. Dogs are supposed to have dog food but some people give them human food. Some dogs are gentle, some dogs attack people.

I am playing a game of ball tag with my friends. I got Gus in the back, and now Gus is in. He got Marco, now Marco is in. The End.

Thursday the 21st

We have had many wonderful comments about our blog...Thanks a lot for all of your feedback. We were the blog of the week don't ya know!
Today saw us making pyramids in maths, writing about creatures who are trying to sleep, and being creative at reading time. We also made freeze frames to show what it was like in 'days gone by'.

Tuesday the 12th

We continue to practise our storytelling skills for Friday. Today we wrote about times when we needed help, but no-one was around, just like the little red hen. We visited the Book Fair to make our wishlist.

Thursday the 7th

Lions read a story about protecting pukeko. We wrote stories about our mums and the super powers they have. Dogs read a story about a spider who had hundreds of babies. We finished our machines too!

Tuesday the 5th

Today we made new Jack and Jill poems. These were poems for us to take home. Dogs read a story about a boy who grew pumpkins. Our picture smarts were busy inventing a machine that has not been invented before.
What a great day!

Monday 4th of May

Today we read stories from our own books. We asked questions and made predictions. People made pictures of faraway lands. Our stories were about being angry at ourselves after we read a story about a wolf who hated his tail. Some people took up some interesting hobbies last week, like sewing, playing games and roller skating.
We love taking books home!
It has been a marvellous Monday!!
Reading was fantastic because we used the right noise level.

Mad Hair Day

Today is our Mad hair day.
Everyone has been great. They have crazzzzzy hair. It has been great for Room 4.

Thursday April 30th

We have read heaps of different books today. Cats read a poem about a tube of toothpaste. Our writing today was about adventures that we have had. At dogs' book club we had a story about a bathtub.

Party Time!

Today we are going to have a party. Mr Mac said we can bring a toy and something to share. We are going to have a party because we have earned 100 party points. So, we can have a party, it will be fun!

Writing was fantastic because we did our best when we wrote our goals.
Hexagons did some practise for maths and got most of them right!
Everyone did the right thing at reading time.
Word smarts had a go at making a comic with some interesting characters. Some people still need to finish these.

Flipping Friday

We have been making and creating lots of different things. We have made rocket poems...ZOOOOOM!
We wrote box stories about things coming out of boxes like kittens, snakes, puppies, monkeys, hedgehogs, old men and other interesting ideas.

18th of March

Everyone did great writing today.We wrote about jobs we wanted to do.
Hexagons did really well on their treasure maps.
We were careful when we read our words today. Dogs read a poem about a washing machine called Mr Swash.
Picture Smarts created cartoon super heroes.
What a super day!

17th of March

We have done great letters today.
Maths was fun today.
We pretended to be clowns and we went shopping.
The inside parsley has grown better than the outside parsley.
We measured them... The inside parsley was 14cm, the outside parsley was 9cm.

16th of March

Today was awesome!
People have been doing the right thing.
Everyone has done their bit.
We have new fitness groups.
We have new classroom pets and pillows.

Terrific Thursday.

Today has been fantastic.
Everyone has been doing the right thing.
Everything has been fun.
Everyone has been nice.
We pretended to be eels at writing time.

Wicked Wednesday

Today has been great. Some children played a game called hot hands.
A castle was made with heaps of people in it.
Some tents were made as well.
